Join us at AX as we welcome our newest exhibition, The Book that Wrote Itself. Created and curated by local author Gerard Collins, this interactive exhibition combines visual, literary, and performance arts.
There will be multiple community events associated with this exhibition, including an artist talk on January 16, 1:00 p.m., a creative writing workshop in February, a dramatic presentation of an excerpt from Gerard's novel, Finton Moon, and a storytelling night at the gallery. The Book that Wrote Itself launches January 12, 2:00 p.m. and will be in the gallery until March 2.
About Gerard Collins: Dr. Gerard Collins is a New Brunswick-based writer, originally from Newfoundland. Gerard's first novel, Finton Moon, was nominated for the 2014 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, 2013 Sunburst Award for Excellence in Canadian Literature of the Fantastic, the 2014 NL Heritage and History Award, and has won the Percy Janes First Novel Award. His short story collection, Moonlight Sketches, won the 2012 NL Book Award.
Gerard's PhD is in North American gothic fiction, and he has taught English at Memorial University of Newfoundland for two decades and continues to teach by distance. Gerard also offers mentorships and hosts local and international writing workshops and retreats.
